The Banana Slug

The animal I've been exploring through art at our animal themed Creative Studio has been...the banana slug!

One chose me back in June, and ever since I've been enamored with them.

I have been holding a couple symbols as I continually choose to protect my yin and not to burn out and dry out; the fern, the pansy and our fabulous banana slug.

The banana slug reminds me to go slow and steady, stay in environments that work for you and keep hydrated!

I was making a drawing of the leaf littered forest floor with slugs sliming across it, and decided to make it into a lantern (peace lanterns is our next studio, thought I'd do a mash up). So fun! It isn't done yet, but I'm liking the direction.

Funny lesson in slowing down: I was going to be a banana slug for Halloween, but this key part of my costume didn't arrive until November 3rd! I'll be slowly preparing for Halloween 2025 now.
